Understanding Dual Roles

Understanding Dual Roles

One of BerryMap's most powerful features is the ability to wear two hats — you can be both a job seeker and an employer on the same account. Here's how it works and why we built it this way.

Why Dual Roles?

We understand that careers are complex. You might be:

  • A freelancer who also hires contractors for projects
  • A business owner exploring new opportunities
  • A professional helping your company recruit while keeping an eye on the market
  • Someone in transition who wants to explore all options

BerryMap gives you the flexibility to do it all, without juggling multiple accounts.

How to Switch Between Roles

Switching roles is simple and instant:

  1. Look for the Role Switcher — Located in your sidebar or header
  2. Click to toggle between "Job Seeker" and "Employer" views
  3. Your dashboard updates automatically to show relevant information

Pro Tip: The role switcher shows which mode you're currently in. Look for the person icon (seeker) or building icon (employer) to quickly identify your current view.

What Changes When You Switch?

In Job Seeker Mode, you see:

  • Your job matches and recommendations
  • Saved jobs and applications
  • Your AI Career Coach
  • Personal profile settings

In Employer Mode, you see:

  • Your job postings
  • Candidate applications and rankings
  • Company analytics
  • Company profile and settings

Separate Profiles for Each Role

Your seeker profile and employer profile are completely independent:

| Seeker Profile | Employer Profile | |---------------|------------------| | Your resume & skills | Company information | | Job preferences | Job postings | | Location preferences | Office locations | | Personal photo | Company logo |

This means you can maintain a professional job-seeking presence while also building your company's employer brand.

Privacy & Visibility

Your privacy is protected:

  • Your seeker profile is not visible to companies you manage
  • Your employer activity doesn't affect your seeker profile
  • You control what information is shared in each role

Pro Tip: If you're concerned about being seen by your current employer, check your visibility settings in your seeker profile to control who can view your information.

Getting the Most from Dual Roles

For Job Seekers who also hire:

  • Keep your seeker profile updated even while focusing on hiring
  • Use insights from reviewing candidates to improve your own profile
  • Stay aware of market trends in your industry

For Employers who might be open to opportunities:

  • Maintain your professional profile
  • Explore what competitors are offering
  • Keep your skills and experience current

Quick Switch Scenarios

| Scenario | Action | |----------|--------| | You see an interesting job while reviewing candidates | Switch to Seeker, save or apply | | A great candidate applies while you're job hunting | Switch to Employer, review application | | Want to compare your profile to job requirements | Toggle between views |

BerryMap makes it easy to move fluidly between both worlds!
