The Sr. Consultant, Business Controls will support the US Private, Personal and Digital Banking (PP&D) group at CIBC. This role involves enabling the PP&D strategy and self-governance through collaboration with first and second lines of defense. Key responsibilities include identifying and measuring financial and non-financial risks, assisting in the design and enhancement of internal controls, fostering sustainable risk management practices, tracking risk item remediation, reporting incidents, promoting risk awareness, and monitoring emerging risks relevant to business strategy. The role operates within a flexible hybrid work environment.
Collaborate with management across PP&D to understand business activities, document processes, and recommend enhancements for sound risk management and sustainability.,Contribute to controls management by supporting the identification, documentation, and maintenance of key and non-key controls.,Promote adherence to policies and standards by reviewing changes and ensuring alignment with Independent Risk Management and Control Groups' guidelines.,Manage and remediate issues, including identifying risk items, reviewing action plans, performing sustainability testing, and providing effective challenge.,Provide governance advisory to business lines on leading practices and challenge current/proposed processes.,Lead risk and control self-assessments for financial, non-financial, and strategic risks (operational, regulatory).,Support assurance and risk reporting by liaising with Internal Audit, regulatory exams, and second line of defense testing, and escalating emerging risks.,Build strong relationships with stakeholders across corporate functions and senior management.
7+ years of experience in consumer banking, financial services consulting, or risk management.,Certification in Regulatory Compliance, Anti-Money Laundering, Fraud, Information Security, or Privacy is preferred.,Demonstrated experience building and executing first line or second line of defense enterprise risk management programs and operational risk oversight.,Strong interpersonal, written, verbal, and presentation skills to articulate complex issues concisely.,Superior time management skills to prioritize multiple initiatives in a dynamic environment.,Strong knowledge of Microsoft applications (PowerPoint, Excel, Visio).,Goal-oriented with an ownership mindset.,Adherence to CIBC values: trust, teamwork, and accountability.
