Description

Charles River Laboratories is looking for an Associate Operations Specialist for their CRADL facility in Thousand Oaks, CA. This role involves providing in-vivo technical support to clients, performing various technical procedures on rodents (including dosing, sample collection, surgical procedures, and necropsy), and ensuring environmental enrichment. The specialist will also train less experienced staff and support animal health and welfare duties in client lab animal facilities.

Review, comprehend and comply with all SOP's and quality assurance standards.,Provide technical procedure training to less experienced staff and researchers.,May coordinate or manage schedules of other team members; resolves schedule conflicts.,Assemble, set up, operate and maintain experimental equipment for in-vivo studies.,Conduct laboratory procedures in compliance with established protocols/plans and regulatory requirements.,Document experimental data in technical notebooks or approved electronic files.,Record, prepare, and analyze data for project reports.,Maintain technical knowledge and understanding in assigned area.,Perform rodent techniques: PO, IV, SQ, IP, IM, and IN dosing/inoculation; blood collection; tumor measurements, body weights, IBD and EAE scoring, behavioral monitoring; rodent telemetry and physiological recordings; necropsy, tissue and fluid collections.,Assist Operations Manager and provide coverage for monitoring animal health and welfare, performing daily animal health observations and husbandry duties (equipment checks, food/water, cage changing/cleaning, recording health concerns).,Maintain accurate records of animal breeding, health, and housing/isolator or support areas.,Assist with restraint, handling, and manipulation of various animal species.,Follow procedures for maintaining animal housing areas, including PPE use and sanitation.,Receive, inspect, and properly house incoming animals.,Operate equipment and use supplies according to safety guidelines; perform general housekeeping and adhere to safety procedures.,Sanitize, maintain, and repair caging materials.,Maintain cage wash facilities in a clean and organized manner.,Maintain facility equipment and perform routine preventative maintenance on cage wash and autoclaves.,Assist with receipt, stocking, and maintenance of supply inventories.,Coordinate with client representatives and corporate/site management to optimize quality compliance.,Interact with customers to resolve requests, inquiries, complaints, and provide technical assistance.,Provide on-site technical and/or training operations/management support.,Formulate teaching outlines, select teaching aids, and determine instructional methods.,Schedule and conduct audits of contract employees and facility inspections.,Review protocols for compliance with regulations and client guidelines.,Review quality assurance records, reports, and training records for accuracy and compliance.,Audit compliance with company policies, procedures, and management guidelines.,Provide recommendations for procedure updates.,Perform breeding and weaning procedures.,Prepare and submit required written records, charts, logs, and inventories.,Actively perform follow-up animal health checks, administer treatments, and support veterinary procedures under veterinary direction.,Delegate work assignments and ensure completion of duties when acting as a supervisor.,Assist supervisors and technologists with mentoring and training new personnel.,Maintain required attendance level and adherence to work schedule.,Perform all other duties as assigned.

Candidat idéal

Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) in Life Sciences or related field and two (2) years related animal husbandry and/or technical experience in a lab animal research facility OR,High school diploma or General Education Degree (G.E.D.) and four (4) years related animal husbandry and/or technical experience in lab animal research facility.,AALAS certification at the Laboratory Animal Technician level (LAT) (Preferred).
