KPMG Law LLP is seeking an experienced Associate to join their Wills, Trusts, Estates & Corporate team in Edmonton. This role involves developing comprehensive estate plans for clients, drafting various legal documents including wills, trusts, and corporate agreements, and providing guidance on estate administration. The Associate will work with a team dedicated to building lasting client relationships and offering trusted wealth advisory services, often encompassing corporate legal work for clients with business holdings.

What We're Looking For

Drafting estate planning documents such as wills (including multiple wills), powers of attorney, alter ego and joint partner trusts, discretionary trusts, and Henson trusts.,Collaborating with clients to create estate plans that address unique family situations, including family businesses, beneficiaries with disabilities, blended families, and tax implications (estate administration tax and income tax).,Drafting cohabitation and prenuptial agreements.,Advising attorneys, agents for property and personal care, and estate trustees on their duties and responsibilities.,Proficiency in estate administration, including obtaining Grants of Probate and Administration, general estate administration, and distributions to beneficiaries, as well as applications for resealing of foreign grants of probate.,Assisting estate trustees with the estate administration process.,Performing basic corporate work, including but not limited to unanimous shareholder agreements, corporate resolutions, and incorporations.

Ideal Candidate

Experience in Wills & Estates and Corporate Law.,Good standing with the Law Society of Alberta.,Strong analytical skills and the ability to conduct detailed research.,Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume work environment.,Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
