The Whey Operator is responsible for managing the whey processing equipment, conducting nightly Clean-in-Place (CIP) duties, and operating bagging machines. The role also involves ensuring product quality, adhering to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and the Safe Quality Food Program guidelines, and providing day-off relief for other Whey Operators. The position is anticipated to be 18-24 months long and is eligible for a quarterly bonus and severance package.
Work a rotating schedule to provide day-off relief to other Whey Operators.,Operate evaporator, dryer, feed system, crystallizer tanks, and silos.,Perform seal checks.,Know and understand how to operate HTST’s and legal limits.,Ability to keep accurate records.,Receive whey and ship condensed whey.,Perform analytical lab testing and accurately record results.,Identify and effectively communicate any out-of-specification product conditions immediately to Supervisor.,Follow established notification protocols.,Follow all established Product Processing guidelines to ensure product meets Saputo, State and Federal Pasteurized Milk Ordinance requirements.,Effective communication and coordination with other departments to ensure product is produced and supplied in accordance with production run schedule, product end of run, and product change-overs.,Actively monitor temperatures, pressures and product flow per requirements.,Follow all Chart Recording guidelines, ensure accuracy and completion of all required documentation, charts and records.,Proficiency with computer based software and automated control systems.,Support internal and external compliance audits.,Obtain state pasteurization license.,Process all product reclaim within defined guidelines.,Perform equipment CIP/SIP/COP/Sanitation and complete department clean-up and general housekeeping as required.,Perform routine equipment adjustments as necessary.,Perform all required department environmental controls.,Follow all established GMP/Food Safety/Allergen policies.,Follow all employee Health and Safety policies.,Wear all required Personal Protective Equipment.,Perform routine equipment set-up and adjustments.,Accurately and neatly complete production records and documents.,Follow all established occupational health and safety procedures.,Safe operation of lift truck and material handling equipment.,Effectively communicate with other departments to ensure production efficiency.,Perform good housekeeping within established housekeeping guidelines.,Comply with federal, state and local dairy food regulations.,Adhere to the Saputo Code of ethics and actively apply the Saputo values.,Work together professionally in a team environment with coworkers and other department personnel.,Other duties as required by management.
High school diploma or equivalent, preferred.,Minimum of two years of demonstrated work experience in food manufacturing, dairy food manufacturing experience preferred.,Advanced quality/food safety training with a concentration in dairy science, a plus.,Pasteurizer License - Grade A milk, in accordance with state regulations.,Weigher / Sampler and Appendix N certifications desired.,Ability to achieve lift truck certification.
High school diploma or equivalent, preferred.
Rotating schedule, extended work hours on a daily or weekly basis, support for 24/7 dairy manufacturing, shift flexibility (rotating, days, swing, night shift and weekends).
Ability to work overtime.,Extended work hours on a daily or weekly basis is required.,Must work in manufacturing environment which includes but not limited to: noise, changing temperatures (hot, wet, cold, humid).,Standing/walking/bending/stooping/climbing stairs, maneuvering around manufacturing equipment consistently throughout the shift.,Working with chemicals, wearing personal protective equipment and following approved chemical handling procedures.,Visual acuity with the ability to see color.,Physical lifting up to 50-lbs unassisted and frequently throughout the shift.,Shift flexibility; team members are assigned to a shift in support of 24/7 dairy manufacturing (can be rotating, days, swing, night shift and weekends).,Work days and shifts may change to help cover vacations/absences, during plant downtime or related events such as training or audits.
