This role involves operating, monitoring, maintaining, and troubleshooting a wastewater treatment facility and its processes. The operator ensures compliance with state and federal regulations, manages the underground sewer system, performs various tests, and maintains equipment. The position requires independent work under the Wastewater Supervisor's direction, focusing on technical operations and adherence to safety and environmental policies.
Operate, monitor, maintain, and trouble-shoot the wastewater treatment facility and its processes.,Ensure compliance with state and federal operating regulations and underground sewer system.,Perform all aspects of wastewater sampling, monitoring and testing.,Complete all required internal and external reports, forms and documentation in English accurately.,Assist with the installation and inspection of new wastewater equipment, components, lines and services.,Perform the installation, maintenance and repair of the physical plant and pump stations and all components.,Conduct daily inspections to ensure the treatment plant and operations are in proper working order.,Perform all work in conformance to Occupational Safety and Health Act regulations.,Maintain open communications with management regarding treatment process and pump stations operation and malfunctions.,Provide technical support to review proposed regulatory compliance activities.,Adhere to Saputo’s Code of Ethics and values.
Must possess a Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator’s Grade II license or certification equivalent from the applicable State where the facility operates or the ability to obtain the certification within 12-months from date of hire.,A minimum of two-years as a wastewater treatment operator.,Ability to perform and document various tests required by State and Federal agencies for wastewater treatment plant operation.,Working knowledge of the operation, methods and procedures of a wastewater treatment plant.,Working knowledge of the machinery used for wastewater treatment and pumping stations.,Thorough knowledge of mechanical equipment and ability to diagnose and correct equipment malfunction.,Working knowledge of basic machinery preventive maintenance and repair.,Basic knowledge of State and Federal rules governing wastewater discharges and worker’s safety.,Experience leading and following Safety/Security Policies and Procedures.,Ability to follow all Environmental Policies and Procedures, and report and follow through on any deficiencies.
Night-time position, 5pm-5:30am on a 2-2-3 schedule
May be exposed to wet, hot, humid and cold temperatures.,Exposure to moving machinery including forklift traffic.,Exposure to noise levels exceeding 85dB.,Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds independently and up to 75 lbs with assistance.,Regularly required to work in an office, maintenance, and production environment.,Requires specific vision abilities (close, distance, color, peripheral, depth, adjust focus).,Frequently required to sit, stand, kneel, stoop, climb and walk for extended periods.,Frequent fine hand/finger manipulation.,Exposure to water treatment chemicals (chlorine-based, reagents, oils/grease/solvents).,Must wear PPE, including respirator protection (level B, C, D).
