Description

Saputo Inc. is seeking a meticulous and passionate Laboratory Technician to join its Saint-Léonard plant team. This role involves performing precise microbiological, chemical, physical, and organoleptic analyses on dairy products and raw materials, ensuring compliance with quality and food safety standards. The technician will also conduct quality control tests in the lab and on the factory floor, participate in equipment validations, and assist with production quality monitoring. This position requires close collaboration with production teams and includes responsibilities such as pre-operational inspections, sampling, non-conformity reporting, and other related tasks within the quality control and laboratory teams.

What We're Looking For

Perform microbiological, chemical, physical, and organoleptic analyses on dairy products.

Prepare samples and culture media, and interpret results.

Conduct laboratory and in-plant quality control tests (e.g., performance tests, pizza tests).

Participate in equipment validations and production quality monitoring.

Ensure compliance with food safety standards and good manufacturing practices (GMP).

Replace floor QC technician during absences, including pre-operational inspections, raw material/in-process/finished product sampling and control, analysis follow-up, swabbing, titrations, and special projects.

Write reports and communicate non-conformities.

Perform other related tasks with quality control and laboratory teams.

Ideal Candidate

College diploma in microbiology, chemistry, biology, or a related field (TPQA, STA).

Practical experience in laboratory or quality control (3+ years, an asset).

Knowledge of good industrial practices (BPI) and good laboratory practices (BPL).

Understanding of milk chemistry and mastery of main analytical techniques.

Ease of communication, both oral and written.

Team spirit and autonomy.

Comfortable with IT tools.

Knowledge of HACCP system (an asset).

Work Hours

Variable schedule based on 3-2-2-3, night shift from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM
