Moderna is seeking an Animal Husbandry Technician I to join their animal facility team. This role involves providing daily care for laboratory rodents, maintaining facility cleanliness, and ensuring adherence to animal welfare and regulatory guidelines. The ideal candidate will exhibit a strong work ethic, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively within a regulated research environment.
Provide daily husbandry care for research animals following Moderna SOPs, the Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals, and relevant federal, state, and accredited agency guidelines.,Deliver clean, sanitized caging, fresh food, water, and environmental enrichment on schedule and as needed.,Monitor animal health daily and report any signs of illness, injury, or abnormal behavior to supervisory or veterinary staff.,Complete all required documentation, including animal records, cage cards, room logs, and notifications, accurately and promptly.,Operate and maintain laboratory animal husbandry equipment (e.g., biosafety cabinets, ventilated racks, sterilizers, cage wash equipment), reporting malfunctions immediately.,Receive, inspect, and house incoming animals, verifying accuracy of orders, logs, and cage cards.,Monitor and document environmental parameters (e.g., lights, temperature, humidity) in housing rooms, reporting deviations promptly.,Clean and sanitize all surfaces, floors, and walls in assigned housing rooms and designated procedure/storage spaces, recording maintenance on room logs.,Work weekends and holidays as required to support animal care operations.,Comply with all safety, biosecurity, and animal welfare requirements.
High school diploma, General Education Degree (G.E.D.) or equivalent is required.,1 year of experience is required; 1-3 years working in an accredited/non-accredited laboratory animal facility and/or veterinarian technician program is preferred.,Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while contributing effectively within a team.,Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written and verbal instructions.,Basic computer proficiency and ability to navigate web-based systems and applications for documentation and recordkeeping.,Ability to perform physical work, including lifting up to 50 lbs., standing or walking for extended periods, and performing repetitive tasks in an animal facility environment.,Ability to work in an environment with exposure to laboratory animals, animal dander, bedding, and related materials.,AALAS ALAT certification preferred but not required; must obtain ALAT certification within one year of hire.

Must already hold U.S. work authorization and be able to maintain that status without the need for future sponsorship.,Requires working weekends and holidays as required to support animal care operations.,Position may involve access to technology or data subject to U.S. export control laws, requiring individuals to qualify as U.S. persons (citizens, permanent residents, asylees, or refugees).
