Tax Reporting Analyst

Description

The Tax Reporting Analyst is responsible for preparing and reviewing tax filings for investment funds, specifically trust income tax returns and indirect tax reporting. This involves complex tax calculations, preparing HST/GST returns, and reviewing basic tax elections to ensure accuracy and compliance. The role requires collaboration with clients, fund accounting, and external auditors to support timely and accurate tax reporting, managing multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

What We're Looking For

Prepare and review Trust income tax returns for investment funds in accordance with applicable tax regulations,

Perform complex tax calculations including income allocations, distributions, maintaining tax profile and adjustments,

Prepare and file HST/GST returns and related tax filings for fund entities,

Review and process basic tax elections and supplemental filings to ensure accuracy and compliance,

Analyze financial data to support tax reporting and identify discrepancies or issues,

Liaise with clients, fund accounting, and external auditors to resolve tax and reporting matters,

Maintain accurate documentation, desk operating procedures and working papers to support tax positions and filings,

Ensure compliance with regulatory deadlines and internal quality standards,

2+ years of fund accounting or related experience in the investment fund industry or public accounting, preferably in the financial services industry,

Accounting or business bachelor degree,

CPA or Working towards CPA designation,

Excellent verbal and written communication skills,

Proven organizational and time management skills

Ideal Candidate
