As a Principal Underwriter (Senior Underwriting Consultant), you will play a key role in influencing underwriting practices, contributing to strategic initiatives, and strengthening iA Financial Group's position as an industry leader. What We're Looking For

Contribute to maintaining and improving the quality of risk selection by reviewing complex cases and advising on medical, non-medical, and financial assessments.,Perform quality controls, participate in audit processes, and support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance decision accuracy and consistency.,Provide expert evaluations for contestable, post-issuance, or litigation-related cases, ensuring decisions are well-supported and defensible.,Evaluate current underwriting rules and recommend updates based on market trends, claims data observations, business needs, and new medical or financial considerations.,Collaborate with Actuarial, Claims, Reinsurance, Technology, and Distribution partners to ensure alignment and consistency of rules and processes.,Support the evolution of underwriting automation systems by contributing to the design, improvement, and prioritization of rules.,Participate in initiatives related to new technologies, analytics, and digital capabilities that improve underwriting efficiency and business quality.,Stay informed about underwriting innovations and contribute to the adoption of modern tools and practices.,Act as a resource for underwriters across Canada by offering advice, training, and support on complex cases and best practices.,Contribute to educational content, presentations, and initiatives aimed at strengthening underwriting expertise across the organization.,Provide feedback to improve team performance, decision consistency, and adherence to quality expectations.

Ideal Candidate

Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in individual underwriting.,FALU and FLMI designations are assets.,Experience collaborating with reinsurers in complex or non-standard financial scenarios (asset).,Experience working with actuarial, data science, or technology teams for rule development or system improvement (asset).
