The Systems Control Engineer at Saputo is responsible for supporting plant expansion projects, new equipment, and production initiatives. This role involves a close partnership with Process Controls Engineers, providing backup for network infrastructure, controls, and programming across the facility.
Responsible for the overall performance of the plant's PLC, HMI, Servo, and other controls device equipment.,Diagnose, repair, and maintain electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic equipment.,Assist maintenance personnel with troubleshooting production/packaging equipment.,Assist in defining and justifying capital projects related to PLC technology.,Work closely with Corporate Engineering on plant automation projects.,Work closely with IT team to ensure new equipment compatibility.,Monitor costs related to equipment repairs and upgrades for control device technology.,Lead and direct technicians to maintain automated systems.,Support Maintenance personnel and Maintenance Manager.,Ensure PLC repairs and improvements meet industry standards.,Maintain records and documents of PLC maintenance work.,Provide PLC training for maintenance skill development.,Coach employees for continuous improvement.,Maintain parts and equipment inventory for control device technology.,Assist in maintaining asset inventory and record system.,Communicate effectively with maintenance, plant personnel, Operations, Corporate Engineering, Quality, R&D, and other internal teams.,Develop and maintain strong working relationships with Contractors, Vendors, Consultants, and Suppliers.,Develop and implement short and long-term repairs and projects.,Assist in providing departmental safety training and enforce safe working practices.,Assist in developing the plant's maintenance budget related to PLC technology.,Enforce Company policies and programs (safety, GMPs).,Provide controls device support on various shifts to multiple plants.,Communicate weekly work schedule and changes to Plant Manager.,Ensure regular follow-ups with Plant Manager on project status.,Perform other duties as required.,Knowledge of RSlogix5000, RSlogix 500, Remote Desktop, FactoryTalk View SE, FactoryTalk View ME, and exposure to JUMO.
A minimum of five years maintenance/engineering/project management experience within Dairy, Food, and/or Beverage industry.,Supervision experience required.,Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field, and/or equivalent experience.,PLC, HMI or DCS certifications is preferred.,CMMS Software experience is preferred.,Calibration experience is a plus.,H.A.R.T. communication experience is a plus.,Advanced level understanding of automated control systems and integration, electronics, robotics, fiber optic sensors, pneumatic-hydraulic controls, HMI devices, and PLC programming.,Ability to read, analyze, and interpret building drawings, piping diagrams, operation manuals, or manual specifications.,Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.,AutoCAD knowledge beneficial.,Ability to work in a team environment.,Ability to work with little or no direction.,Possess excellent time management and organizational skills.,Understanding of budgetary principles.,Ability to work flexible hours on various shifts, holidays and weekends when needed.,Demonstrates professionalism and positively represents and promotes Saputo at all times.
