The Senior Associate for Debt Products will focus on underwriting new loan origination, ensuring all credit objectives are met. This role involves analyzing and presenting credit risks for new loans, collaborating with various internal teams and clients throughout the loan lifecycle, and maintaining client relationships for the Commercial Real Estate business. The position is accountable for all materials presented during the loan origination process.
Develop expertise in all aspects of the credit life cycle (underwriting, loan presentations, closing).,Ensure accuracy of loan approval documents and data entry in Closer system.,Prepare and present materials for pre-screenings.,Stay current on industry/market conditions and recommend policy/procedure adjustments.,Recommend appropriate risk ratings in collaboration with team leads.,Understand CIBC's appetite and limit capacity for deal-specific attributes.,Ensure loan documentation aligns with Loan Presentation on new transactions.,Lead loan closing checklist calls and serve as a key client contact.,Work with Debt Products Team Lead on evolving Commercial Real Estate trends.,Provide materials for HPA in response to regulators and auditors.,Support regulatory filings with appropriate materials.,Respond to second-line challenges of risk identification and provide input to risk identification processes.,Escalate and accurately capture data incident reports (root cause, impact, control analysis).
3+ years of demonstrated experience in underwriting, structuring, loan closing, documentation, and portfolio management.,Developed knowledge of regulatory expectations and industry best practices in risk management.,Developed knowledge and understanding of financial risks (credit, market, liquidity) and/or non-financial risks (operational, compliance, reputation, strategic), and financial services businesses and products.,Ability to provide basic credit expertise within Commercial Real Estate.,Well versed in key systems, applications, and models, with proficiency in Microsoft Office products and advanced knowledge of financial analysis and modeling.
40 hours/week
Must be willing to relocate to Chicago, IL if not local.,Expected to attend industry events to maintain current market knowledge.
