This role involves conducting control testing, assessing operational risks, and reporting on findings within CIBC's Technology Infrastructure and Innovation (TI&I) business. The specialist will collaborate with various teams to design and implement robust control frameworks, ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, and support strategic initiatives by identifying and addressing control gaps, leveraging data analytics and emerging technologies.
Conduct control testing, providing assessment, consulting, and reporting on operational risk and controls.,Understand and follow qualitative and quantitative components of Risk Appetite Statements.,Escalate matters through appropriate channels.,Collaborate with team members, stakeholders, and partners on control design and operating effectiveness testing.,Assess the control environment to ensure controls are complete, thorough, meet regulatory requirements, match industry standards, and align to CIBC’s policies and standards.,Implement control frameworks and practices that address evolving regulatory and compliance requirements.,Partner with TI&I teams to ensure alignment and currency of controls.,Manage risk and meet industry and regulatory standards.,Analyze processes and requirements, provide clear advice.,Plan projects, keep stakeholders updated on progress, and communicate realistic timelines.,Identify ways to improve and automate processes using technology.,Work with various teams including risk, compliance, and audit for a united approach.,Support internal clients by understanding their needs and offering advice on risk and technology solutions.,Communicate clearly through reports and presentations.,Build strong working relationships across all teams.,Stay up to date on new trends and best practices in operations and controls.,Deliver results by using technology insights to find control gaps and aid decision-making.
Degree/diploma in accounting, finance, business, or a related field.,2–5 years of experience in front-line testing, audit, enterprise or operational risk management, or management consulting.,One or more professional certifications relevant to operational control testing.,Hands-on experience conducting or managing internal and external audits, with a strong understanding of audit methodologies and standards.,Adept at designing and executing control testing plans (walkthroughs, sampling, substantive testing) using both manual and automated techniques.,Ability to work independently and effectively within cross-functional teams, influencing stakeholders at all levels.,Skilled in creating process flows that clearly represent current and future states.,Strong understanding of risk management and control testing.,Experience implementing or supporting RPA and AI solutions within audit, compliance, or control testing environments.,Advocates for the adoption of digital tools and fosters a culture of continuous improvement.,Leverages data analytics and AI-driven insights for control testing and risk assessment.,Stays updated with technological advancements and proactively acquires new skills.
