This role involves extending the Unreal Editor with advanced 2D and 3D texture painting functionalities. It is critical for the in-editor asset creation pipeline, supporting both traditional and AI-driven content generation, and directly enhancing artist productivity within one of the leading game engines globally.
Develop a 2D brush-based painting tool for creating and editing images.
Develop texture painting workflows for 3D meshes directly within the viewport.
Provide generic capabilities for other editor tools to integrate 2D/3D painting.
Maintain and extend the StylusInput plugin for interfacing with drawing tablets.
Support existing procedural texturing capabilities.
Work independently to make and own implementation decisions.
Contribute to major initiatives that require painting workflows, such as terrain editing.
Excellent C++ skills.
Significant experience developing 2D and/or 3D painting tools.
Passionate about advancing painting tools and workflows.
Experience developing in a large codebase.
Experience designing and implementing tools from the ground up.
Self-motivated and effective in working independently as part of a distributed team.
Candidates with strong leadership skills may be considered for an immediate or near-term team lead role.
