Description

This role at Epic Games involves designing and implementing UI systems for Rocket League within the Unreal Engine. The designer will build prototypes, layouts, and visual scripts, and optimize workflows while collaborating with UX Designers, UI Artists, and UI Programmers. A strong foundation in game math, game systems, and programming principles is essential for delivering features to a global user base.

What We're Looking For

Design UI systems, detailing functionalities/wireframes into widgets, materials, and input navigation.,Improve UI performance by ensuring best practices.,Verify UI assets are within memory and CPU constraints.,Analyze UMG/Slate/C++/texture memory performance and costs.,Implement blueprint logic for presentation.,Assist UI Artists with special presentation behaviors.,Consult UI Programmers on logic placement (blueprint vs. native code).,Debug blueprint/UMG issues rapidly.,Help UX, UI art, and UI programming with organization, documentation, and workflow improvements.

Ideal Candidate

Experience building user interfaces and experiences in game engines across multiple platforms (mobile, web, PC, consoles).,Experience launching updates and new features regularly.,Professional experience with Adobe Suite (Photoshop and Illustrator as a plus).,Experience with game engines (custom, Unity, Unreal Engine, Lumberyard, Snowdrop, etc.).,Understanding of 3D-package experience in the game industry (3D Studio, Maya, etc.).,Experience with UI in 2 or more AAA titles.,Strong logical thinking, problem-solving, attention to detail, and excellent writing and communication skills.,Ability to "translate" communication between departments.,Empathy for non-technical team members and ability to empower others.
