Epic Games is seeking a Senior Technical UI Designer to work on Rocket League. This role focuses on designing innovative, user-centered experiences, implementing UI systems in Unreal Engine, building prototypes, layouts, and visual scripts, and optimizing workflows. The designer will collaborate with UX Designers, UI Artists, and UI Programmers to deliver new features to a global user base, applying game math, system design, and programming principles.
Work on UI Systems Design, breaking down features/wireframes into necessary widgets, materials, and input navigation.,Increase UI performance by ensuring best practices and optimizing assets/UI within memory and CPU constraints.,Profile performance and understand the costs of UMG/Slate/C++/texture memory.,Implement blueprint logic for presentation behavior and assist UI Artists.,Consult with UI Programmers on logic division between blueprint and native code.,Debug blueprints/UMG issues quickly using various tools and techniques.,Assist UX, UI Art, and UI Programming in organization, documentation, and workflow improvements.
Experience in building UI and experiences in game engines and across multiple platforms (mobile, web, PC, consoles), or similar transferable experience.,Experience shipping updates and new features to a user base regularly, or similar transferable experience.,Professional experience with Adobe Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator a plus).,Engine experience (Custom engine, Unity, Unreal Engine, Lumberyard, Snowdrop, etc.).,Understanding of game industry 3D-package experience (3D Studio, Maya, etc.).,An eye for pixel-perfect UI, capable of translating and identifying potential issues with mockups.,A logical problem solver with strong attention to detail and excellent written and communication skills.,Ability to 'translate' communication across departments (e.g., programming to UI art needs) and empower non-technical team members.,UI work on 2+ AAA game titles.,C++ and scripting experience.,Experience with building materials/shaders in Unreal or equivalent.
