Senior Technical Designer in Animation (R27214)
Description
Epic Games is looking for a Senior Technical Designer in Animation (TDiA) to work on various animation systems. This role involves using animation and technical knowledge to create gameplay animation systems for engaging character movement, acting as a primary contact for animation issues, and ensuring a smooth animation pipeline by collaborating with animation, design, and programming teams. The TDiA will also identify problems, implement solutions, and facilitate communication between departments.
What We're Looking For
Create animation behavior tools, techniques, and philosophies for complex movement systems.
Design and implement animation state machines, behaviors, and execution solutions.
Collaborate with animation, design, and programming departments to analyze, diagnose, and troubleshoot in-game animation implementation and technical challenges.
Work closely with animation leadership to maintain animation style and quality.
Identify opportunities to improve the animation workflow/pipeline, provide solutions for technical animation problems, including training and documentation.
Ideal Candidate
Strong animation sensibility with a clear understanding of realistic and stylized character movements and modern animation methods.
Experience in animation pipelines, including content creation tools like Maya, MotionBuilder, and Unreal Engine, using the Control Rig toolset.
Exceptional problem-solving ability with solid written communication and teamwork skills.
Familiarity with gameplay animation tools and concepts such as blend trees and state machines; experience with Unreal Engine's Animation Blueprints is a plus.
Experience with AAA game development, preferably in large teams using established game engines (internal or commercial); experience with Unreal Engine is a plus.
Self-motivated, strong work ethic, and ability to work independently.
