Senior Technical Designer in Animation (R27214)

Description

Epic Games is seeking a Senior Technical Designer in Animation (TDiA) to develop and implement gameplay animation systems for high-quality character motion. This role involves troubleshooting animation implementation issues, addressing technical challenges, and ensuring a seamless animation pipeline through close collaboration with Animation, Design, and Programming teams. The TDiA will also identify and resolve technical problems and foster communication between animation and other departments.

What We're Looking For

Design and create gameplay animation systems to facilitate appealing, high-quality character motion.,Serve as the primary point of contact for animation implementation issues and technical challenges.,Collaborate with Animation, Design, and Programming departments to ensure a smooth and efficient animation pipeline.,Identify potential issues and deploy appropriate solutions.,Bridge and facilitate communication between the animation team and other departments.,Create animation behavior tools, techniques, and philosophies for building complex movement systems.,Design and implement animation state machines, behaviors, and runtime solutions.,Work closely with animation leadership to maintain animation style and quality.,Identify opportunities to improve the animation pipeline/workflow and provide solutions for technical animation problems.,Provide training and create documentation for the animation team.

Ideal Candidate

A strong animation sense with a clear understanding of realistic and stylized character motion and how to achieve them.,Expertise with animation pipelines.,Familiarity with gameplay animation tools and concepts such as blend trees and state machines.,Experience with AAA game development, preferably on a large team using an established game engine.,Self-motivation, a strong work ethic, and the ability to work independently.
