Epic Games is seeking a Senior Technical Animator to join the Cinematics team, focusing on creating expressive character movement for high-profile trailers related to Fortnite and other IP projects. This role involves collaborating with internal teams and vendors, solving problems, and contributing to the improvement of models, movements, and tools. The core responsibilities include rigging, pipeline development, and tooling.
Rig characters, props, and vehicles,Set up assets in Unreal Engine 5 (including cloth, physics, blueprints),Work closely with modelers and animators for smooth development and high-quality assets,Assist and build pipeline tools, collaborate with engine and project leads on tool improvement,Direct Technical Animation work for Cinematic trailers (outsourced and internal),Provide support and optimization for the Animation Team (performance, engine stability, control rig/constraint bug issues, animation workflows),Design UI Pickers for the Animation team
Extensive experience rigging characters in the Unreal Engine,Portfolio demonstrating rigging for various characters (bipeds, creatures, body, and faces),Attention to aesthetic detail, especially regarding character deformation and physics movement,Familiarity with the Unreal Engine 5 art pipeline,Positive individual with strong written communication and teamwork skills,Exceptional problem-solver,Experience developing character pipelines and tools
