This role is for a Senior Developer Relations Engineer focused on Epic Online Services (EOS) Anti-Cheat, also known as Easy Anti-Cheat. The engineer will act as a key technical intermediary between Epic's internal development teams and external partners. Responsibilities include assisting partners with integrating, debugging, and optimizing Anti-Cheat within their projects. The role demands in-depth technical troubleshooting, analyzing crash reports, debugging low-level C/C++ code, and providing effective solutions and technical guidance. The engineer will also contribute to Anti-Cheat design decisions, create technical documentation, and maintain strong communication with both internal and external stakeholders.
Key responsibilities include troubleshooting complex Anti-Cheat integration and operational issues by analyzing crash dumps, logs, and call stacks to identify root causes. The engineer will collaborate with external game developers and internal teams to resolve technical issues promptly, debug and reproduce customer issues, and clearly document findings. They will also represent Epic Games through various support channels, including live support, trade shows like UEFest, and customer visits. Developing and maintaining clear technical documentation, tutorials, and guides is essential. The role also involves advocating for partners' successful integration and use of Anti-Cheat, influencing product improvements through customer insights, and researching opportunities to enhance Anti-Cheat technologies and the developer experience.
Candidates should be highly proficient in C and C++, particularly in low-level or kernel-level debugging and development. Strong abilities in analyzing crash dumps and debugging complex, obfuscated code at the assembly level are required. Familiarity with cross-platform development across Windows, Linux, and macOS, including understanding platform differences and limitations, is essential. Exceptional problem-solving skills, a proactive approach to tackling issues independently, and excellent verbal and written communication skills for collaborating with internal and external partners are key. The ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, work well under pressure, and prioritize to meet SLA targets is also necessary. Prior experience with SDK/API integration and a solid understanding of software engineering principles, including legacy support, is expected. An understanding of online multiplayer video game architectures and associated security concerns is also desired.
