As a Senior Municipal Bond Trader for RBC Wealth Management, this role involves buying and selling municipal bonds within assigned limits to generate sales commission and trading revenue. Key responsibilities include marketing municipal bonds to the retail branch network by disseminating product and market information, following up on securities merchandising, and educating Financial Advisors (FAs) through electronic, telephonic communication, and branch visits. The trader will also generate sales ideas and provide fixed income services, always focusing on the client's best interest.
Responsible for bidding and purchasing municipal securities for inventory positions, creating sales credit and trading revenues, and managing associated risk.,Evaluate information related to financial markets and quickly and accurately assess market risk to receive the best possible price.,Access and manage risk within assigned limits for inventory books.,Maintain current department database and processes.,Develop and distribute ideas on current market conditions in a creative and timely fashion to Financial Advisors (FAs).,Proactively create actionable ideas for FAs, including portfolio ladders, possible swap opportunities, and new money opportunities.,Build relationships with the retail network by maintaining a high level of service.,Work closely with various trading desks and traders to obtain market insight, develop trade ideas, and identify cross-product opportunities.,Partner with various departments across RBC, Business Development, and Fixed Income Strategies to deliver a cohesive message on opportunities to FAs.,Be a team player willing to provide back-up for other team members and assist with special projects as business needs arise.,Remain aware of changing compliance standards.,Maintain proper and accurate records and ensure that all trades comply with regulations and policies.
Bachelor's Degree, or the ability to demonstrate experience or academic achievement in related fields such as Economics, Finance, or Mathematics, or equivalent work experience.,Series 7 & 63 licenses - or willingness to obtain.
