The Senior Manager, HR Privacy Risk North America will oversee Royal Bank of Canada's (RBC) compliance with applicable data protection and privacy laws, as well as RBC's Enterprise Privacy Risk Management Policy, specifically relating to HR/Employee data. This role focuses on HR Privacy Risk and Regulatory Compliance Risk within HR's 1st Line of Defence. Key responsibilities include maintaining and enhancing the Global Privacy Program for Human Resources across Canada, the USA, and the Caribbean, handling individual (employee) rights requests, managing privacy incidents and breaches, conducting privacy risk assessments, and ensuring timely responses to privacy queries and complaints. The position also involves developing and facilitating privacy training and fostering a privacy-by-design culture within Human Resources.
Support the maintenance and enhancement of the Global Privacy Program for Human Resources in Canada, the USA, and the Caribbean, ensuring compliance with privacy laws, regulations, and internal policies.,Responsible for handling all individual (employee) rights requests in compliance with data privacy laws and regulations.,Manage privacy and compliance regulatory requirements in Canada, the USA, and the Caribbean, including monitoring, reviewing, reporting, fulfilling, and servicing Privacy Incidents and Privacy-related requests.,Advise on privacy design requirements, conduct privacy risk assessments, identify and mitigate HR privacy risk exposures, and manage data incidents and breaches.,Coordinate responses to individual (employee) rights requests and other privacy queries.,Ensure appropriate handling of Canada, USA, and Caribbean-based privacy complaints and respond to employee privacy queries and complaints in a timely and accurate manner.,Identify, document, and track privacy risks, recommending control activities and reporting the risk position.,Initiate and own risk mitigation methodologies applicable to HR/Employee data.,Develop service partnerships with business stakeholders, Group Risk Management, and Compliance to identify risk-related issues and raise awareness of risks associated with HR/Employee data.,Support and advise on the management of HR/Employee data incidents and breaches in line with privacy legislation and local policies.,Support the Privacy Risk program for Human Resources by developing and facilitating privacy training to improve employee awareness.,Drive a culture of privacy within Human Resources by advocating for privacy by design and integration of RBC privacy principles and accountability.
Strong privacy background.,Minimum of 5 years privacy experience.,Technical knowledge of data protection laws, regulations, and practices in Canada, with practical application experience.,Strong analytical (qualitative and quantitative) and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.,Strong administrative, documentation, planning, and organizational skills.,Proven ability to manage multiple high-priority DSAR projects simultaneously.,Self-sufficient with the ability to work independently and in a team environment.,Experience with process mapping, documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives.,Aptitude for learning technical systems and applications (e.g., MS products – Excel, Word, Access, Outlook).,Nice-to-have: Technical knowledge of data protection laws, regulations, and practices in the USA and the Caribbean.,Nice-to-have: Relevant privacy experience in Financial Services, delivering cross-company and/or jurisdiction privacy programs/initiatives.,Nice-to-have: Professional designation/privacy qualification (such as CIPP/C or Practitioner Certification).
