Senior Manager, Data Strategy

Description

The Senior Manager, Data Strategy supports the development and execution of the Finance Data Strategy at RBC, focusing on ERP enablement, global data design, and building a strong Finance data foundation. This role involves partnering with Finance stakeholders, Finance IT, and the Chief Data Office to ensure Finance data is well-defined, governed, and capable of supporting financial, regulatory, management, and future reporting needs.

What We're Looking For

Support in developing and maintaining the Finance Data Strategy, ensuring alignment with CFO priorities, enterprise data strategy and data governance framework.

Translate strategic objectives into practical data frameworks, roadmaps and implementation guidance for Finance teams and delivery partners.

Identify data fragmentation, duplication and ambiguity across Finance and propose target-state remediation approaches.

Represent Finance data requirements in ERP and global design initiatives, ensuring downstream reporting, controls, and automation needs are embedded upfront.

Assess ERP and sub-ledger data models to ensure they support Finance reporting, data reuse, and downstream automation needs.

Document data impacts, gaps and dependencies between ERP programs and existing Finance data ecosystems.

Embed strong governance and control over ERP data flows to ensure completeness, accuracy and compliance.

Act as key liaison between Finance, Finance IT, and CDO teams on data strategy, governance and ERP-related matters.

Provide clear guidance to Data Enablement and delivery teams on data principles, standards and ownership, without directly owning solution build.

Support executive and senior management communications related to Finance data strategy.

Ideal Candidate

7+ years of experience in data strategy, finance transformation, or enterprise data design.

Strong understanding of Finance data domains.

Experience supporting or shaping ERP or large-scale system transformations.

Proven ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear business insights.

Strong executive communication, stakeholder management and change leadership skills.

Strong knowledge of RBC business lines, products and systems (Nice-to-Have).

Familiarity with enterprise data governance frameworks and operating models (Nice-to-Have).

Exposure to data architecture concepts, metadata, lineage, and data quality management (Nice-to-Have).

Track record of building roadmaps and driving outcomes (Nice-to-Have).
