The Senior Governance & Control Specialist serves as a leading expert in complex governance and control functions. This role provides strategic direction, guidance to teams and management, and leads key control initiatives. The specialist advises senior management, designs programs, formulates policies, and recommends improvements based on emerging business trends and regulatory/risk issues. Additionally, the role involves contributing to the development and implementation of risk strategies, ensuring compliance, and managing relationships across various business lines.
Provide direction and guidance to teams and/or management, acting as an overall leader on key control initiatives.,Serve as a senior specialist offering advisory services to executives and business segment leaders.,Govern requirements for own work and integrate knowledge of the enterprise function’s or business segment’s overarching strategy.,Lead program design, policy formulation, or operating standards.,Anticipate emerging business trends and regulatory/risk issues to recommend large-scale product, technical, functional, or operations improvements.,Serve as a source of expert advice to senior management in the field of specialty.,Advise on execution strategy and lead the development and deployment of functional programs or initiatives.,Contribute to the strategic direction of the business governance and control function and play a key role in developing and implementing risk strategies.,Develop and document a comprehensive inventory of processes and controls with clearly defined owners.,Participate in the intake of applicable regulation, assessment of impact, and mapping of associated controls.,Review end-to-end processes and controls to increase standardization of solutions, processes, and controls across business units.,Lead the integrated execution of policies/procedures/changes across multiple functional areas.,Provide direction to complex, wide-ranging enterprise or cross-function/business projects as a Subject Matter Expert (SME), identify risks, provide guidance, and participate in designing, testing, and implementing solutions.,Ensure programs/policies/practices are well-managed, meet business needs/priorities, and comply with internal/external requirements.,Manage relationships within and across various business lines, corporate, and/or control functions, ensuring alignment with enterprise and/or regulatory requirements.,Protect the interests of the organization by identifying and managing risks, and escalating non-standard, high-risk transactions/activities as necessary.,Maintain a culture of risk management and control, supported by processes in alignment with risk appetite, and comply with the Bank Code of Conduct.,Participate as a team member, support a positive work environment, and ensure timely communication.,Provide leadership as a SME and participate in knowledge transfer within the team/business unit.,Keep current on emerging trends/developments and contribute to team development of skills and capabilities through mentorship.
Undergraduate degree preferred.,10+ years of relevant experience.,Deep industry and business knowledge and expertise on risk and control functions.,Expert knowledge of governance, risk and control procedures, strategies & tactics.,Knowledge of current and emerging competitor and market trends.,Ability to establish goals and objectives that support delivery execution for multiple and/or scaled teams.,Ability to contribute to strategic direction of the function and provide advice to the team and all levels of leadership.,Ability to support forecasting of initiatives and demand in order to help develop annual strategic plan.,Advanced ability to lead, plan, implement and evaluate program/project activities to ensure completion of product initiatives.,Skill in mentoring, coaching and performance management.,Skill in using analytical software tools, data analysis methods and reporting techniques.,Skill in using computer applications including MS Office and industry standards.,Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.,Ability to work collaboratively and build relationships across teams and functions.,Ability to work successfully as a member of a team and independently.,Ability to exercise sound judgement in making decisions.,Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work while meeting multiple deadlines.
