Senior Director, Head SRE and Production Operations

Description

This role involves formulating strategy and implementing a modern Production Operations and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) organization for a portfolio of approximately one hundred production applications supporting RBC Investor Services. The successful candidate will also lead support teams to deliver excellent technology services to both external clients and internal business stakeholders. The primary focus is on building world-class services in key system and application support disciplines within the asset servicing and custody industry, aligning with RBC's Technology & Operations Strategy and industry best practices. Key accountabilities include driving target availability for major platforms and continually striving for exceptional client experience, proactive, and efficient operating models. The position is transformative, operational, and strategic, focusing on operational excellence (SRE), intelligent operations, and people leadership.

What We're Looking For

Oversee Incident/Problem/Change Management/Disaster Recovery Exercise to ensure application availability and uptime as per service level objectives.,Manage production monitoring, including observability, alerting, proactive testing, logging, anomaly detection, continuous automation, and toil reduction.,Continuously evaluate and improve processes to prevent future issues.,Ensure all systems maintain technology currency (server patching, certificate renewal) with a focus on automation.,Ensure compliance of all systems and applications with RBC security standards.,Create efficiencies in operating models and processes.,Institute frameworks and processes for production readiness during software development projects.,Set vision for the SRE product base, including monitoring, alerting, machine learning anomaly detection, self-healing, and reliability testing.,Drive best-in-class technical solutions by tracking industry leading solutions.,Leverage internal and enterprise-wide teams to develop solutions and foster a cross-enterprise mindset.,Grow adoption of new technologies within SRE.,Enable teams to meet objectives and implement changes that result in increased agility and effective cost management.,Promote a mindset for sustained success, growth, and diversity.,Enhance knowledge of critical business and technology processes across the team.,Provide focus and clarity in establishing individual goals, driving performance enablement, supporting career development, and rewarding strong performance.,Attract, hire, and retain top talent.,10+ years' experience within production operations across multiple technologies and platforms, including application and infrastructure.,10+ years of related experience in Software Engineering (SRE, DevOps, Cloud, Data), with 10 to 12 years of people management experience.,Experience leading large teams of engineers and operations analysts with proven ability to partner across the organization to drive problem resolution.,Ability to drive and facilitate transformation in a large and complex global organization.,Strong knowledge of industry practices, with a focus on Engineering Transformation and SRE.

Ideal Candidate

Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related technical degree or related breadth of experience.
