This role supports risk management activities for the Data Management Office (DMO) team within CIBC, focusing on operational risk management solutions. The consultant will advise internal clients, ensure an acceptable risk posture aligned with industry standards and regulatory requirements, and contribute to the bank's overall risk discipline. Key responsibilities also include participating in risk assessments, identifying controls, leading remediation efforts for deficiencies, and monitoring business processes.
Meet with internal clients to understand priorities and advise on Operational risk management solutions.,Leverage risk management expertise to introduce ideas for continuously maintaining an acceptable risk posture aligned with industry peers, regulatory requirements, and CIBC's risk appetite.,Exhibit strong verbal and written communication skills to create trusted advisory relationships with all partners across all lines of defense.,Engage with cross-functional teams across all three lines of defense to foster open communication and value diverse perspectives.,Leverage strong project management skills to proactively manage timelines and keep direct managers and internal clients informed of predicted/preliminary results.,Conduct analysis of processes and functional requirements to provide proactive advice and guidance to internal stakeholders.,Support the business in the identification of controls and participate in risk assessments.,Lead remediation of deficiencies, write procedures, and monitor business processes.,Report on business risk outcomes.,Liaise with the second and third lines of defense on new/changes to risk programs.,Gather evidence and support during exams.,Provide subject matter expertise over the DMO processes.,Exercise independent judgement within defined procedures and provide recommendations for best practices.,Solve business, operations, and technical problems.
7+ years of Banking experience, specializing in data management and overall risk management.,Well-developed project management and strategic business-planning skills, with the ability to develop plans/tactics to support strategies & objectives.,Demonstrated experience in interpreting policies and procedures to ensure timeliness and accuracy.,Working knowledge of potential risks associated with Data Management, such as AI, Data Governance, or Data Analytics.,Experience in risk assessment and consulting.,Understanding of Control Framework requirements.
