Description

This role involves identifying, developing, and closing high-quality asset-based lending transactions. The manager will also expand CIBC's presence by collaborating with various product offerings like commercial banking, capital markets, wealth management, and commercial real estate. The primary focus is on acquiring new middle-market clients, entrepreneur-led/privately-held companies, publicly-traded customers, and financially-sponsored businesses with financing needs ranging from $10MM to $75MM, with syndication capabilities exceeding $75MM. The role requires close collaboration with the ABL Underwriting Team to assess new opportunities.

What We're Looking For

Prospect and acquire new ABL clients, meeting strategic relationship acquisition and new business generation goals.,Drive new business through quality leads from a wide network of referral sources and regular prospect visits.,Identify cross-sell opportunities for new clients and maintain market understanding of competitors.,Serve as the primary contact for prospective clients, understanding their needs to deliver appropriate products and services.,Actively develop and maintain Client Relationship Management (CRM) for accurate pipeline forecasting.,Bolster market presence within the community and industry associations to promote CIBC and cultivate prospects and referral sources.,Participate in initial Fit Assessment discussions for deals.,Assist in structuring new deals to align client expectations with bank requirements.,Act as a Strategic Advisor to clients when needed.,Develop and maintain profitable centers of influence within the targeted market.,Focus calling efforts on third-party financial intermediaries, middle-market direct calling, financial sponsors, and internal team members.,Assist in client discussions during front-end term negotiations.,Possess deep knowledge of all bank offerings and a continuous understanding of new products.,Partner effectively with commercial bankers to deliver ABL solutions.,Collaborate with Portfolio Managers to ensure top-notch client service.,Maintain open communication with clients as new deals progress through fulfillment.,Provide guidance during credit events for new strategic relationships, including collaboration with Portfolio Managers during analysis and deal approval.,Assist Portfolio Managers in deal negotiation.

Ideal Candidate

Bachelor's degree or higher,Minimum of 10 years of ABL experience,Minimum of 5 years of successful experience as a business development officer for a Commercial or ABL lender with focused efforts on quality centers of influence,In-depth understanding of the asset-based lending industry, market structures, and competition (bank/non-bank),Deep referral source network with a track record of consistent calling efforts
