Senior Alternative Investment Analyst

Description

RBC Wealth Management's Alternative Investment team seeks an analyst to conduct research, analysis, and due diligence on private market offerings across various asset classes (private credit, private equity, real assets, hedge funds). This role supports RBC's US and global businesses by building and monitoring alternative investment lists, leading investment committees, assisting advisors with support models and business development, and providing insights and recommendations on alternative investment managers. Key responsibilities include fostering cross-border collaboration, problem-solving, continuous skill enhancement, diligence for new product initiatives, training junior analysts, and ensuring accurate and timely delivery of reports and communications.

What We're Looking For

Conduct initial and ongoing research, analysis, and due diligence of private market offerings across various asset classes (private credit, private equity, real assets, hedge funds).,Build, monitor, and support a list of alternative investments for the Private Alternatives platform in the US.,Collaborate with global colleagues on alternatives initiatives across RBC's Canada, British Isles, and Asia businesses.,Assume a leading role on investment committees, providing ideas and investment recommendations.,Assist in the launch of support models for RBC WM Advisors, including educational and training materials, asset allocation, and market insights.,Aid Advisors in business development with ultra-high-net-worth clients through alternative investment opinions and ratings.,Perform investment and operational due diligence, including firm and product structure, portfolio management, investment approach, and performance.,Provide clear and timely insights and opinions on alternative investment managers through published reports and internal communications.,Deliver meaningful recommendations to appropriate investment committees.,Foster strong cross-border collaboration.,Problem-solve and resolve issues in the oversight of alternative investment managers and projects.,Continuously enhance skills and knowledge in organizational, business, and analytical systems.,Provide diligence and guidance for new product initiatives.,Train and develop junior or mid-level alternative investment analysts.,Educate other team members on alternatives.,Responsible for accuracy and timely delivery of reports, recommendations, and ad-hoc requests.,Demonstrate exemplary written and verbal communication skills.

Ideal Candidate

Minimum of 10-15 years of overall work experience, including 5-10 years in alternative investment due diligence, selection, and ongoing diligence of private market solutions in a wealth management or institutional setting.,Undergraduate degree in business (preferred concentration in finance, accounting, economics, math, or statistics).,Solid understanding of key investment products and concepts (alternative investments, operational due diligence, portfolio management, investment strategy, investment structures).,Advanced use of investment analytical tools (e.g., Dynamo, Zephyr, Preqin, Albourne is a plus).,Strong background in legal, regulatory, and governance issues related to private markets.,CFA/CAIA designations and/or advanced educational degrees.,Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and analytical tools.,Proven track record in implementing and integrating complex technologies and cross-functional projects.,Demonstrated curiosity for technological innovation and ability to adapt new methods.,Continuous awareness of economic and market environments.

Bachelor's Degree (Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Math, Statistics preferred), CFA/CAIA designations, or advanced educational degrees
