Product Group Technology Lead - Metadata Management & Data Discovery

Description

This Senior Product Group Technology Lead role at The Toronto-Dominion Bank encompasses the end-to-end technology, product, platform, and engineering strategy, architecture, and delivery for data cataloging, metadata management, data discovery, automated classification and enrichment, and AI for data management. The successful candidate will lead and develop other Product Group Technology Leads, establish the portfolio's strategic vision, ensure cohesive and scalable solutions across multi-cloud and on-premise environments, and translate enterprise priorities into actionable roadmaps to deliver measurable business value through automation and operational excellence.

What We're Looking For

Define and drive the portfolio vision, strategy, OKRs, and success metrics, sequencing epics to maximize value.

Deliver and evolve enterprise data catalog capabilities using the Collibra suite, including platform configuration, metadata ingestion, lineage enablement, workflow development, and persona-centric experiences.

Establish common architecture patterns, guardrails, and SLAs/SLOs for data ingestion, connectors, classification/tagging, and agent orchestration, ensuring interoperability.

Manage roadmap and delivery governance through quarterly planning, portfolio reviews, and dependency management to ensure predictable, evidence-by-design delivery.

Lead, coach, and develop Product Group Technology Leads and their teams, building a high-performing organization with clear roles and growth plans.

Define and track service health (availability, latency, freshness, accuracy), institute observability and incident practices, and own runbooks for portfolio-level events.

Embed safe-AI and data-management practices, ensure policy alignment, transparent decision-making, and manage vendor/third-party risks.

Partner with senior technology and business leaders, representing the portfolio, communicating outcomes and trade-offs, and driving adoption.

Ideal Candidate

Undergraduate degree or Technical Certificate (Graduate degree preferred)

12–15+ years across data/platform engineering, data management/governance, and AI/ML

10+ years building and leading product/platform organizations at enterprise scale

Proven leadership of multiple concurrent Product Groups (or equivalent portfolios) with experience in discovery, classification/enrichment, and AI/agent capabilities

Strong knowledge of Data Catalogs (Collibra knowledge is a plus), Data Management Domain, Metadata Management Principles

Strong and demonstrated knowledge of Collibra Catalog and Collibra Product suites

Deep architecture expertise across multi-cloud and federated on-prem estates

Hands-on familiarity with metadata/catalog/lineage platforms, pipeline orchestration, and observability

Experience in AI/ML service design (LLM/RAG, agent frameworks, guardrails, evaluation/MLOps) and evidence-by-design approaches for governance

Exceptional stakeholder management, communication, and organizational change leadership

Background in financial-services data practices

Familiarity with privacy-preserving techniques, synthetic data for test harnesses, and cost/performance optimization of large-scale scanning workloads

Minimum Education

Bachelor's Degree or Technical Certificate (Master's Degree preferred)
