Principal Specialist, Transfer Pricing

Description

This role is a critical opportunity to support Moderna's rapid global growth through best-in-class transfer pricing operations. The Principal Specialist will be based in Warsaw, Poland, and will play a key part in a high-growth tax team, transforming biotech. Responsibilities include designing and operationalizing Moderna's global transfer pricing strategy, spanning planning, implementation, compliance, documentation, audit defense, and financial modeling across all Moderna entities worldwide. The role emphasizes a digital-first, automation-enabled approach, cross-functional collaboration, and leveraging emerging technologies like Generative AI for tax efficiency and analytics. This is an individual contributor role with full ownership of transfer pricing operations and strategy.

What We're Looking For

Oversee the review of global transfer pricing documentation and planning studies, including benchmarking, cost allocations, APAs, and dispute resolution processes.,Lead the evaluation and implementation of arm's-length pricing and intercompany agreements across entities, ensuring accurate netting and cash settlements.,Assess intercompany transfers of goods, services, intangibles, and loans, while maintaining strategic optionality and compliance.,Support global reporting requirements, controversy management, and jurisdictional tax inquiries in alignment with business objectives.,Design, implement, and maintain robust internal controls and best-practice documentation standards across global operations.,Develop complex financial models to evaluate and price intercompany transactions.,Prepare economic, financial, and accounting analysis for strategic decision-making.,Support regulatory audits and manage documentation for notice responses and tax authority inquiries.,Calculate and record intercompany transactions monthly/quarterly, and prepare accurate journal entries.,Enhance digital reporting capabilities to better evaluate transfer pricing risk and identify optimization opportunities.,Collaborate across functions to align tax strategies with organizational goals, with a focus on continuous innovation and learning.

Ideal Candidate

Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, Business, Economics, Taxation, or a related field (required),6+ years of experience in a transfer pricing role at a Big 4 public accounting firm or corporate multi-national company, preferably in biopharma or life sciences industries (required),Strong knowledge of technology solutions that drive efficient transfer pricing compliance (required),JD or LL.M. in Taxation (preferred)
