Principal Solutions Architect

Description

As a Principal Solutions Architect at Royal Bank of Canada, you will collaborate with IT, Operations, and business stakeholders to define and lead the development of end-to-end technical solution architecture for high-complexity IT initiatives, typically valued between $1 million and $20 million. Your role involves assessing business needs and existing environments, designing viable solutions that align with enterprise architecture strategies, and guiding delivery teams through implementation. You will act as the primary technical authority, coordinating across various functional teams such as data, security, infrastructure, and development, while effectively communicating complex concepts to diverse audiences.

What We're Looking For

Assess and analyze business strategy, requirements, current environment, and technology choices to evaluate solution alternatives.,Define end-to-end technical solutions considering enterprise architecture strategies, current state, and constraints.,Ensure solution viability to meet program timelines, budget, and quality.,Act as the lead technical authority, planning all activities for overall solution architecture development.,Work across multiple functional teams (data, security, infrastructure, development) to capture and define solution architecture.,Effectively communicate and build rapport with team members, stakeholders, and interface groups.,Facilitate meetings for technical architecture review, decision-making, and problem-solving.

Ideal Candidate

Bachelor's degree in a technical area (computer science, mathematics, engineering) or equivalent work experience in a solution architecture capacity.,Total IT experience of at least 10 years.,Minimum of 5 years doing solution architecture on large projects.,Solid experience across a variety of technologies and design approaches (e.g., J2EE, .NET, cloud, mid-range, vendor packaged/hosted solutions, multi-technology platform applications, human/document workflow, SOA, data analytics, security).,Strong leadership skills and demonstrated experience with complex integration projects involving disparate technologies/platforms and large cross-functional technical teams.,Exceptional communication skills to visualize, depict, and convey complex concepts to diverse audiences.,Nice-to-have: Experience in the financial industry, particularly with securities brokerage, and a consulting background.,Nice-to-have: Advanced degrees, IT industry involvement, or highly varied technical experience.,Nice-to-have: Experience with designing and implementing cloud-based architectural solutions.,Nice-to-have: Experience with mobile technology design/development, big data analytics, and/or designing transactional systems.
