Principal Game Designer, Engagement (R27003)

In this role, you will craft meaningful player goals to build exposure, experience, and mastery of game mechanics within Fortnite. You will spearhead design innovation for engagement, including systems, progression, and rewards, while meeting key engagement metrics and supporting systematic framework needs. You will communicate the player experience vision to various teams, collaborate with product management and marketing to ensure player satisfaction and growth, and drive collaborative, iterative live design to quickly prototype, implement changes, learn, and iterate.

The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of experience shipping multiple titles as a game designer, specifically working on engagement content or goal-based progression systems in live-service multiplayer environments. Demonstrated talent for player empathy, a deep understanding of player motivations, various forms of play, and the impact of goal setting on gameplay are essential. A strong interest in Battle Royale (BR) and the Fortnite Ecosystem, along with an understanding of their mechanics, is required. The candidate must be able to react quickly to project needs, drive decisions, and own that vision. Key traits include being player-focused, passionate, solutions-focused, and innovative.
