This role within the Legal Affairs – Credit team at Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec (CDPQ) is crucial for executing complex financings across multiple jurisdictions. The position involves working with investment teams in Montreal, London, and New York, alongside external legal advisors, within a dynamic transactional environment. The team consists of experienced financing lawyers who collaborate closely and contribute to investment decisions. This unique role offers exposure to sophisticated international financings, innovative structures, and direct engagement with investment teams, providing complete transaction visibility from exploration to execution. It provides a significant opportunity for applying business judgment, influencing financing structures, and contributing to highly visible strategic files, which is uncommon in private practice in Quebec.

What We're Looking For

Participate in upstream transaction analyses, collaborating with investment teams to align commercial and legal objectives.,Review and negotiate legal documents, including credit agreements, inter-creditor agreements, and collateral.,Ensure legal follow-up of portfolio investments, managing contractual amendments, refinancings, and restructuring files.,Collaborate with other CDPQ portfolios, such as Private Equity and Infrastructure, for transactions involving multiple asset classes or integrated structuring.,Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulatory restrictions across various jurisdictions.,Work closely with internal CDPQ teams, including Taxation, Ethics & Compliance, Risks, and Public Affairs.,Supervise mandates assigned to external advisors and ensure consistency in analyses and recommendations.

Ideal Candidate

Excellent analytical and judgment skills.,Strong communication skills.,Marked aptitude for collaborative work within an institutional framework.,University degree in law and admission to the Quebec Bar.
