The Portfolio Management Consultant at Royal Bank of Canada provides expert insight and advice on portfolio management best practices, bridging conceptual strategies of trading and rebalancing portfolios. This role involves assisting teams in making informed decisions and analyzing business practices related to RBC Dominion Securities' discretionary programs (A+ and PIM), as well as supporting desktop applications for these platforms. The goal is to address trading issues, prevent errors, and contribute to the growth of a scalable business.
Conduct one-on-one meetings with discretionary and non-discretionary teams to determine investment philosophy and implementation strategy.
Build and maintain relationships with new and existing Portfolio Managers (discretionary licensed Investment Advisors) and their teams.
Discuss best practices for Investment Policy Statements, asset mix monitoring, quarterly reviews, and service plans to streamline investment processes.
Help set up advisor books for portfolio modeling and ongoing management for new clients, multiple legal registrations, withdrawals/deposits, and asset mix changes.
Assist new employees/competitive recruits with trading and modeling platforms (TradeLink, ClientLink, A+ Desktop, TAC).
Help teams modify investment management philosophy and liaise with Managed Solutions Group, Portfolio Overlay Team, and Portfolio Advisory Group for improvements.
Lay groundwork for scalable Unified Managed Household tools (A+) for both discretionary and non-discretionary advisors.
Assist with ClientLink modeling, including creating models, attaching portfolios, running trade lists, and managing exceptions.
Outline handling everyday transactions like withdrawals, deposits, and currency conversions.
Assist with training on integration into the discretionary platform.
Minimum of 5 years in the financial services industry, preferably with Dominion Securities.
Strong interpersonal skills (empathetic listener, coach, and negotiator) and strong communication and presentation skills.
Comfortable meeting new people, engaging, and building relationships.
Driven, eager to learn, and thrives in a high-performance environment.
Willingness to travel for a combined total average of two weeks per month, often for one to four days at a time, with some overnight travel required.
Advanced computer skills, with emphasis on Excel.
CFA Level 1 or CIM, or, strong and proven understanding of discretionary money management.
Background in Dominion Securities Retail branch environment, preferably with a discretionary team (3+ years' experience) including processes, technology, products & services.
