This PLC Technician role at Saputo involves maintaining and repairing advanced automation systems, ensuring efficient, safe, and reliable operations, particularly during the night shift. Key duties include installing, testing, inspecting, and modifying automation equipment, troubleshooting malfunctions, programming control systems, and performing preventative maintenance. Install, test, maintain, inspect, modify, and repair automation equipment, components, and control systems using knowledge of electronics, robotics, fiber optic sensors, and pneumatic-hydraulic controls.,Abide by NEC, NFPA 70 E, and State regulations.,Coordinate with contractors and vendors for plant operations and new projects.,Perform instrument control programming and configuration for various devices (pressure/temperature transmitters, RTDs, PLCs, HMIs).,Troubleshoot and diagnose electronic/mechanical malfunctions, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.,Communicate with equipment suppliers, contractors, and vendors.,Resolve system faults and anomalies, including control code modifications.,Complete system updates and debug PLC, HMI, and other control logic software.,Make recommendations for software/hardware selection and upgrades.,Utilize computers, precision measuring instruments, hand/power tools, and electrical repair tools.,Perform routine preventative and corrective maintenance and testing.,Dismantle, clean, repair, and test electrical, electronic, and mechanical components.,Coordinate with engineers for timely repairs to minimize downtime.,Maintain preventative maintenance logs and accurate records.,Coordinate on-site automation equipment installation with team members.,Recommend and implement improvements based on technical expertise.,Provide maintenance training to production supervisors, manufacturing engineers, and mechanics.,Follow and promote health and safety rules and practices.,Lock out equipment for safe handling and servicing.,Troubleshoot and calibrate plant instrumentation and automation equipment (valves, pressure, temperature, level, flow, conductivity, speed, force instruments; motor controls; PLCs, HMIs).,Collaborate with co-workers and other department personnel.,Adhere to Saputo code of ethics and values.
High School Diploma or GED.,AS degree in industrial controls technologies or related field OR 3-5 years’ experience in instrumentation/automation field, or a combination of education and experience.,PLC, HMI or DCS certifications is preferred.,Calibration experience is a plus.,H.A.R.T. communication experience is a plus.,CMMS Software experience is preferred.,Advanced level understanding of automated control systems and integration, electronics, robotics, fiber optic sensors, pneumatic-hydraulic controls, HMI touch panels, and PLC programming.
High School Diploma or GED; AS degree in industrial controls technologies or related field
2nd Shift Maintenance: 2:00 PM – 12:00 PM Monday - Friday; 3rd Shift Maintenance: 10:00 PM- 8:00 AM Monday - Friday
Ability to work a flexible schedule; Must work night shifts (2nd or 3rd shift).
