Manager, Corporate Support Financial Control

Description

This challenging role within the Technology & Operations (T&O) Financial Control team at Royal Bank of Canada involves ensuring the accuracy and completeness of the Corporate Support balance sheet and income statement. The Manager will also provide accounting interpretation, guidance, and advice on transactions as they arise, focusing on maintaining a strong control environment and adhering to financial control policies.

What We're Looking For

Ensure accurate and complete financial and regulatory reporting for a subset of groups within Corporate Support.,Review reconciliations and documentation packages to assess sufficiency of source documentation and controls for month-end balances.,Ensure month-end General Ledger Attestations are completed accurately and investigate any discrepancies.,Coordinate with various groups for accurate external reporting (MD&A, B/S, P&L, Note disclosures, regulatory reporting).,Perform review of month-end reports and prepare journal entries as required.,Review accounting policy issues and liaise with Accounting Policy Group for appropriate accounting treatments.,Maintain technical accounting knowledge (e.g., IAS 38, IAS 37, IFRS 16) and stay updated on new accounting developments.,Ensure global financial control policies, including SOX & End User Control compliance, are in place and adhered to.,Proactively identify control weaknesses, make recommendations, and implement new controls.,Review systems processes for capitalization and allocation of internally developed software costs.,Lead special projects as assigned by the Director, Financial Control.

Ideal Candidate

Accounting designation (CPA preferred),Strong management capabilities,Ability to work independently and to multi-task,Demonstrated experience interpreting and applying accounting standards in complex transactions,Experience identifying and resolving system and control issues,2+ years of professional experience, preferably in the Financial Services Industry (Nice-to-have),Knowledge of RBC systems / eGL / Apptio and related tools (Nice-to-have)
