This role is a key member of the RBC Insurance CFO team, acting as a business partner and advisor across financial accounting, performance management, and planning and forecasting. The individual will contribute to and/or own IFRS 17 processes, policies, and enhancements, including process streamlining, business requirements, and automation. The role involves collaborating with IT and Actuarial teams to identify financial optimization opportunities and implement new, audit-ready solutions.
Program delivery, stakeholder and change management (facilitate/drive requirements, testing, cutover, change management within Finance, Actuarial, IT, vendors; identify risks and mitigation),Insurance accounting (IFRS 17) technical leadership (contribute/lead enhancement of detailed requirements for IFRS 17 metrics, accounting policies, reporting, calculation rules, CSM mechanics, disclosures),Systems and integration requirements (facilitate development of end-to-end requirements for GL, subledgers, actuarial outputs, investment systems, policy administration and data lake integrations, including reconciliation rules; translate business requirements into system specifications),Finance & Actuarial process optimization (identify opportunities to simplify workflows, remove manual steps, implement automation and reporting enhancements, reduce operational risk),Controls, compliance and SOX governance (support implementation and review of EUC controls, control requirements and audit trails; prepare/review documentation for auditors),3-5+ years in insurance finance transformation, accounting, actuarial or financial systems delivery,Hands-on life insurance products and investments knowledge (e.g., par, universal life, seg funds),Knowledge of IFRS and proven experience developing & defining technical IFRS 17 measurement models (VFA, GMM, PAA), accounting requirements and/or implementing downstream reporting,Demonstrated ability to produce clear technical system, process and methodology documentation,Strong project management skills with experience in large scale programs/initiatives,Strong cross-functional collaborator with excellent communication skills, able to present complex technical topics to finance and IT leaders
Professional accounting designation (CPA, CA, etc.) or actuarial designation (FSA, FCIA, etc.),Completion of a Master's or PhD in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, or Finance,Practical experience with GL/subledger, actuarial valuations, policy administration systems and finance data warehouses,Familiarity with Accounting Hub, CSM calculators, modern BI/reporting tools and cloud platforms,Financial data architecture experience in canonical models, lineage, ETL/ELT design and reconciliation automation
