Loan Underwriter III – Home Equity Disposition Desk

Description

The Loan Underwriter III is responsible for underwriting and evaluating conventional, FHA, VA, and CRA Residential Mortgage applications, as well as Home Equity and Consumer Loans, ensuring compliance with bank policies and procedures. This role involves assessing risk, approving or declining loans, and maintaining knowledge of product guidelines and regulatory requirements. The underwriter will also coach and mentor operations staff.

What We're Looking For

Underwrite ethical and salable residential mortgage and consumer loans and evaluate risk, ensuring loan quality.,Approve loans, issue alternative options, or adverse action based on sound judgment and bank policies.,Validate data entry in the Loan Operating System and evaluate all applicable documentation.,Identify and manage loan exceptions, ensuring proper approval and documentation procedures.,Escalate integrity issues and ensure compliance with internal guidelines and external regulations.,Maintain knowledge of loan product guidelines, internal policies, and regulatory requirements.,Coach and mentor operations staff and assist with training.,Monitor vendor performance and submit monthly reports to management (if required).

Ideal Candidate

2-year degree or equivalent experience preferred.,3-5 years loan underwriting experience or 5-7 years of loan processing experience.,3-5 Years Residential Loan Underwriting Experience.,Supports High Net Worth/Wealth Mgmt customers, with residential/consumer lending limits in the $1-2MM aggregate range as approved by Credit Risk Management.
