Description

The Loan Underwriter II evaluates and underwrites various types of residential mortgage and consumer loan applications, including conventional, FHA, VA, and CRA, ensuring compliance with bank policies and procedures while managing risk. The role involves validating data, identifying exceptions, and maintaining knowledge of lending guidelines and regulatory requirements.

What We're Looking For

Underwrite and evaluate conventional, FHA, VA, and CRA Residential Mortgage applications, as well as Home Equity and Consumer Loans.,Approve loans or take adverse action based on sound judgment and bank policies.,Validate data entry in the Loan Operating System and evaluate documentation.,Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of regulatory, investor, and departmental lending policies.,Identify loan exceptions and ensure proper approval and documentation procedures are followed.,Manage integrity issues and ensure file compliance.,Maintain knowledge of loan product guidelines, internal policies, and regulatory requirements.,Coach and mentor operations staff.

Ideal Candidate

High school diploma or GED required; 2-year degree or equivalent experience preferred.,2+ years of underwriting experience.,Advanced knowledge of loan underwriting documentation requirements.,Knowledge of Agency DU automated underwriting system.,Familiarity with underwriting larger, more complex, and specialty products.,Ability to effectively communicate with diverse personalities and provide excellent customer service.,Superior oral and written communication skills.,Excellent PC skills.,In-depth knowledge of CRA products and industry.,Detail-oriented, excellent organizational, analytical, and decision-making skills.,Ability to communicate with multiple business partners.,Ability to handle heavy workload, multitask, and meet stringent deadlines.,Experience with self-employed income preferred.,Home equity experience preferred.

Minimum Education

High school diploma or GED (2-year degree or equivalent experience preferred)
