Lead Engine Programmer, Core Systems (R27006)

Description

This role involves leading a team of systems programmers at Epic Games, focusing on improving the performance of existing core engine technologies such as loading, memory management, serialization, and concurrency. The position is also responsible for delivering new, high-impact, engine-critical features directly to Unreal Engine, UEFN, and Fortnite. The successful candidate will participate in technical discussions, review designs, identify risks, manage team outcomes, and drive cross-team collaboration, all while maintaining high technical quality and supporting team growth and career progression.

Ideal Candidate

A proven track record of driving and delivering long-running, complex technical solutions.,Strong ability to reason about large, interacting systems and their performance characteristics.,High proficiency in C++.,Experience working with core engine or system-level codebases.,Ability to operate autonomously while aligning with broader technical direction.,Good knowledge of the Unreal Engine reflection system and serialization versioning is a plus.
