The Health and Safety Specialist at Saputo Inc. is responsible for developing and driving the overall safety culture, implementing safety concepts to ensure an accident-free work environment, and managing plant safety and risk programs. Key duties include leading occupational health and safety initiatives, conducting safety audits and accident investigations, performing Job Safety Analysis, facilitating safety training, supporting crisis management, and managing industrial injury/illness claims. The role emphasizes root cause analysis and injury prevention.
Support OSHA compliance, state, and local regulatory compliance.,Lead plant occupational health and safety, including Emergency Response, SDS, safety audits, and accident investigations.,Work with other departments on workers’ compensation, Risk Management Plan and Process Safety Management.,Perform Job Safety Analysis and recommend process improvements.,Conduct and/or facilitate safety programs and OSHA required training and certifications (e.g., forklift, confined space, lockout/tagout, CPR/First Aid).,Conduct fire drills; perform new hire and annual safety training.,Support site crisis management program and support activities.,Review Incident Investigation Report for completeness and appropriate action to prevent recurrence.,Facilitate root cause prevention (RCA) for injuries and illnesses.,Support industrial injury/illness full life cycle claim management.,Serve as or obtain safety expertise for plant functions in dealings with OSHA, including updates to management on current laws and regulations.,Oversight, maintenance, and upkeep of safety reporting systems.,Review and recommend modifications to safety and health training content.
Associate’s degree in occupational health & Safety Management, Industrial Hygiene or in a related field, and/or equivalent experience.,Two (2) or more years’ experience in an industrial manufacturing setting, preferably food manufacturing, with major concentration of job duties relating to environmental, health and safety.,Strong understanding of OSHA regulations and Workers’ Compensation claim mitigation and management.,Hands-on experience in successfully leading, coaching, motivating, and developing a team environment within safety.,Demonstrated ability to conduct training sessions.,OSHA 30-Hour certification, or ability to obtain within 12-months of hire.,American Red Cross CPR/First Aid certified; AMR Instructor certification preferred.
