Description
CIBC is seeking a Finance Manager for its Hong Kong and China operations. This role is part of the Finance group, which provides comprehensive financial services including regulatory, management, and statutory reporting, accounts payable, expense accounting, and taxation. The manager will be responsible for ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting, implementing process improvements, supporting audit functions, and collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure compliance and efficient financial operations.
What We're Looking For
Account for and ensure timeliness and accuracy of internal and external financial reporting, Head Office reporting, management reporting, and regulatory reporting.
Coordinate testing and implementation of new products and systems.
Update and implement process documentation (e.g., desktop procedure manual, reviewer checklist).
Assist in branch tax filing schedules.
Monitor expense processing and general accounting entries.
Ensure interface between source and ledger are in sync.
Identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities.
Liaise with internal and external auditors and stakeholders.
Keep abreast of new Finance related regulatory and financial reporting requirements.
Support ad hoc requests and new project initiatives.
Provide guidance and on-the-job training to staff.
Support Shanghai Rep Office, Beijing Rep Office, and WFOE.
Act as Business Plan Recovery coordinator and Record Retention Coordinator for HK Finance.
Responsible for expense management, reviewing account coding on expense invoices.
Be responsible for entries for BRO and WFOE to ensure legitimate payments with proper authorization.
Provide monthly funding for Shanghai and Beijing offices.
Reconcile fixed assets in COUPA to SAP and maintain fixed assets register.
Recover intercompany charges from CIBC branches.
Perform daily reconciliation on Nostro accounts and ensure suspense accounts are cleared.
Prepare monthly Balance Sheet supporting schedules.
Prepare monthly expenses variance analysis for total HK branch.
Prepare daily/monthly/quarterly reports including FX position, PnL, Core Li & Asset, Operational losses, and expenses accrual entries.
Prepare monthly transfer pricing invoice and entries.
Review month-end sweep entries and raise FX tickets.
Prepare yearly trial balance sheet and audit related documents for Beijing Rep Offices.
Provide support and backup to HK Finance team on SAP, Alteryx, COUPA, PeopleSoft.
Ideal Candidate
Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in a similar position.
Experience in Big 4 is preferred.
Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles covering local requirements.
IFRS/Canadian requirements is preferred.
Knowledge of Hong Kong Corporate Income Tax and HKMA regulatory reporting requirements is preferred.
Diverse product knowledge in general wholesale banking products (corporate loans, contingents, deposits, securities, derivatives, foreign exchange, investment banking M&A and Underwriting).
Familiarity with financial reporting systems, including source systems.
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel (Macros, SQL, VBA, etc.) is a plus.
