The Facility Support Specialist II is responsible for the efficient receipt, storage, and distribution of supplies within facilities. This role involves maintaining accurate inventories, ensuring timely delivery of supplies to internal and external customers, and adhering to all relevant safety and quality assurance standards. Key tasks include managing caging, feed, and bedding supplies, verifying deliveries, decontaminating materials, operating heavy equipment, preparing records, and providing technical assistance to customers. The specialist must also ensure proper stock rotation and maintain a clean receiving area.
Reviews, comprehends and complies with all SOPs and quality assurance standards.,Operates equipment and uses supplies according to safety guidelines; performs general housekeeping and adheres to safety procedures.,Maintains consistent practice of general company and safety policies and procedures and MSDS guidelines, including those related to biohazards and radioactive substances.,Performs all duties in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.,Receives deliveries at the facilities loading docks.,Assists with maintaining inventory of caging and supplies to ensure accurate ordering and first use of supplies.,Distributes equipment, general supplies, feed, and bedding to appropriate areas of the facility.,Verifies count, condition, and identity of all items received and matches them against order/purchase request forms.,Ensures items are free of damage or contamination and that perishable/dated materials and mill dates are within acceptable parameters.,Decontaminates supplies as appropriate before admission to the animal facility.,Transports supplies and equipment to designated storage areas.,Submits packing slips within 24 hours of receipt and provides reports/information to the facility manager as requested.,Ensures feed and bedding stock are rotated so that oldest items are used first and before expiration date.,Maintains a neat and orderly receiving area.,Provides housekeeping services for the Loading Dock/Receiving Bay.,Assists with facilities and caging preventative and as needed maintenance.,Operates heavy equipment (e.g., pallet jacks, dock lifts, hand trucks, etc.).,Prepares and submits required written records, charts, logs, and inventories.,Actively interacts with customers to resolve requests, inquiries, and complaints and provide technical assistance.,Maintains required attendance level and adherence to work schedule.,Performs other duties as assigned.,Must be a self-starter and able to manage time and operational flow independently of constant instruction.,Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions and exhibit interpersonal skills conducive to effective communication and a congenial work environment.,Maintains a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating professionally with clients, customers, coworkers, and supervisors.,Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English well enough to communicate effectively with investigators and other staff members on a daily basis.,Ability to take on new tasks and perform daily routines with minimal supervision.
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.,Experience in a comparable industrial, maintenance, or warehouse environment.,One (1) year experience in a laboratory animal facility.,Certification/Licensure: None required.,Experience or working knowledge of supplies and equipment typically used in an animal facility preferred.,Experience with heavy equipment preferred.,Basic computer literacy in word processing and database record keeping preferred (MS Office: Outlook, Excel, Word).

Regularly lifts bedding material and feed bags to stack storage containers.,Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally move large bags of bedding or pallets of materials up to 500 pounds with the help of others or mechanical lifts.,Work environment includes moving mechanical parts, laboratory animal caging of various species, wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, biohazard materials, and risk of electrical shock.,Requires pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check for US-based roles upon acceptance.
