Description

Responsible for implementing and sustaining the facility's Health and Safety management programs, managing health and safety activities to ensure regulatory compliance, and protecting human health and the environment.

What We're Looking For

Provide pro-active leadership and guidance for a strong safety culture.

Develop and maintain close working relationship with manufacturing personnel.

Develop and manage a facility safety strategy including Job Hazard Assessments, Plant Inspections, Accident Investigations, Hazard control and Prevention Reports, tracking and verification of corrective actions, and auditing EHS programs.

Maintain accident records and files for OSHA 300 log and other OSHA requirements; evaluate cases to decrease accident rate and severity.

Manage employee illness and injuries and workers' compensation claims.

Track and report employee illness and injury statistics, matrices, and data; provide monthly and annual occupational health and safety reports.

Responsible for the Hazard Communication program including the SDS database.

Act as liaison between the site and 3rd party environmental and occupational safety regulatory compliance agencies.

Assist and guide internal and external customers in Safety, Health and Environmental compliance.

Conduct necessary assessments, inventories, and inspections for environmental, health, and safety regulations.

Manage the Process Safety Management Program, including annual evaluation, NH3 system inspections, training, and system integrity.

Supervise the environmental compliance program to ensure Federal, State, and local County compliance.

Develop robust programs and procedures in compliance with OSHA and Saputo for Emergency Response Plan, Personal Protective Equipment, Control of Hazardous Energy, Confined Spaces, Respiratory Protection, and Hearing Conservation.

Develop a Safety Internal Audit Checklist.

Manage the Ergonomics Program, educate employees, and coordinate workstation assessments.

Evaluate environmental problems to develop methods and equipment to maintain regulatory compliance; stay current with emerging environmental control technology and trends.

Supervise medical surveillance for chemicals, respiratory protection, and hearing conservation programs.

Oversee Health programs such as medical surveillance, physicals, wellness program, first aid supplies and equipment, Bloodborne Pathogens, and employee First Aid/CPR training.

Chair the Safety Committee and coordinate all Safety Committee activities.

Provide technical support to outside resources or contractors for compliance.

Manage the Health and safety audit process and act as the liaison with regulatory agencies.

Develop and facilitate training for new employees, periodic and annual health and safety training, and coordinate tailgate training program.

Support and be an ambassador of Saputo Values and comply with the Saputo Code of Ethics.

Other duties as required by management.

Ideal Candidate

Bachelor's degree in environmental or chemical engineering, safety management, industrial hygiene, industrial risk management, or a related field or equivalent experience.

Working knowledge and understanding of OSHA / CalOSHA Title 8 regulations.

Minimum of 5 years of increasing experience in an industrial manufacturing setting, preferably food manufacturing.

Computer literate.

Ability to complete projects with minimum or no supervision.

Good interpersonal skills and leadership characteristics.
