This role is a key position within RBC's Taxation group, focusing on managing Canadian tax compliance for RBC's international subsidiaries and providing Canadian tax advice with an emphasis on foreign affiliate taxation. The position aims to maximize shareholder value by proactively managing tax risk and ensuring full compliance with Canadian tax laws. Responsibilities include managing Canadian international tax compliance, supporting audits by Canadian tax authorities, identifying and resolving multi-jurisdictional tax issues, supporting internal initiatives like M&A, participating in technology implementation for tax reporting, and staying informed on legislative developments to communicate impacts to senior management.
Manage the Canadian international tax compliance process for RBC's international subsidiaries, including FAPI calculations, annual foreign affiliate reporting, and surplus calculations.,Support the management of audits conducted by Canadian tax authorities, involving liaison with government representatives, query responses, review of reassessment proposals, and filing objections.,Identify, research, and resolve multi-jurisdictional tax issues (FAPI, withholding tax, and tax treaties).,Support internal initiatives related to income taxation, such as mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, corporate reorganizations, and treasury financing activities.,Participate in leveraging technology and implementing tax reporting systems to optimize outcomes.,Stay abreast of tax legislative developments and communicate impacts to senior RBC Group members.,CPA designation.,In-depth knowledge of Canadian federal income tax concepts, foreign affiliate taxation, and tax treaties.,High-level working knowledge of local (non-Canadian) tax laws where the RBC Group operates.,7+ years of full-time experience in a large corporation and/or a major accounting firm, with a minimum of 5 years specializing in the taxation of foreign affiliates.,Completed advanced specialized courses offered by professional associations on the taxation of foreign affiliates.,Experience related to the financial services industry is preferable, but not mandatory.
