This role involves leading a 2nd Line of Defence (2LOD) Privacy Officer team across Canadian and Caribbean Businesses and Functions. The primary goal is to ensure robust oversight and challenge of Privacy Risk management at RBC. The director will build relationships with 1st Line of Defence (1LOD) senior stakeholders and Privacy Teams, clarifying roles, responsibilities, policy requirements, and regulatory expectations to enable effective 1LOD privacy risk management.
Lead a team of 2nd Line of Defence (2LOD) Privacy Officers covering Canadian and Caribbean Businesses and Functions.,Ensure adequate oversight and challenge of Privacy Risk management at RBC.,Build and maintain relationships with key 1st Line of Defence (1LOD) senior stakeholders and 1LOD Privacy Teams.,Ensure clarity on roles and responsibilities, policy requirements, and regulatory expectations for privacy risk management.,Ensure a consistent approach to privacy risk management by strengthening overall oversight for Canadian and Caribbean businesses and functions.,Identify, raise, and record issues with Global Privacy Office and resolve them jointly with regional peers.,Build strong working relationships with regional peers to achieve common, consistent, or global controls, tools, and methodologies.,Collaborate with Canadian and Caribbean 1LOD Privacy teams and ensure appropriate oversight of their activities.,Review and challenge the business regarding their management of privacy risk.,Maintain a general understanding of how RBC collects, uses, and stores personal data.,Review escalated Privacy Risk Assessments, Supplier Risk Management Assessments, Privacy Breaches, and complaints.,Assess escalations relating to non-compliant collection or use of personal data and take necessary actions.,Escalate significant risks, concerns, and challenges to Global Head of Privacy Oversight Compliance and/or Chief Privacy Officer.,Develop appropriate and effective responses to and resolution of privacy issues, deficiencies, or breaches.,Build relationships and lead interactions with relevant Privacy regulators.,Lead regulatory change management for Canadian and Caribbean privacy regulatory changes.,Experienced Privacy professional with a strong knowledge of privacy, compliance, and regulatory risk management practices.
