The Director, part of the Group Risk Management team, is responsible for the primary adjudication and decision-making regarding the approval and amendment of new and existing credit commitments within RBC's Real Estate Development Lending Portfolio. This role involves reviewing generally large credit exposures for top-tier Canadian developers, offering transaction structuring advice to mitigate risks, comprehending the risk profiles of transactions, and communicating recommendations to senior leadership. The focus is on maintaining portfolio quality, aligning with business objectives, ensuring operational effectiveness, sharing best practices with partners, striving for high efficiency in portfolio management, and enhancing the client experience.
Work with the team to maintain a strong risk profile and manage the assigned portfolio to minimize losses and maximize return.,Adjudicate Real Estate Development credit applications within delegated lending limits.,Influence portfolio quality through strategic risk assessment, attention to data quality, and knowledge-sharing.,Deliver consistent decisions with solid communication of rationale for support, amendments, or declines.,Ensure clients and colleagues are treated with respect, professionalism, and empathy, maintaining good working relationships.,Look for and act upon opportunities to strengthen the efficiency, accessibility, and responsiveness of key risk processes and practices.,Partner with stakeholders to achieve collective results.,Act as a catalyst to ensure the team is strategically aligned with business strategies while maintaining the Bank's desired risk profile.,Take initiative to proactively seek, demonstrate, and facilitate consistency in credit adjudication, fully utilizing other risk team resources.,Ensure accurate and consistent processes/controls are in place and followed to protect shareholder interests.,Ensure credit transactions are adjudicated, for the most part, within Policy Guidelines, Standards, and Procedures and mitigate risks as necessary.
5+ years of commercial real estate experience with a preferred focus on Real Estate Construction and Development (Must-have),Strong communication, coaching, and conflict resolution skills (Must-have),Proven ability to make decisions in the presence of pressure and uncertainty (Must-have),Undergraduate Degree (Must-have),Previous Real Estate experience within commercial or corporate banking (Nice to have),In-depth knowledge of RBC Risk Policies, procedures & practices, Folios etc. (Nice to have),Proficiency with Bank Technology (Nice to have),Post graduate qualifications (CFA, CMA, MBA etc.) (Nice to have)
