This leadership position within the Insurance Financial Control team at RBC involves overseeing the control environment, governance, and SOX compliance for the Insurance division. The role focuses on fostering a high-performance culture, providing expert advice to stakeholders, and implementing innovative control solutions within a world-class financial institution.
Lead the center of expertise for controls and governance within Insurance Finance and SOX for the broader Insurance division,
Serve as an advisor to stakeholders on the development and maintenance of control environments,
Design, pre-test, and implement new financial controls,
Act as the primary point of contact for internal and external auditors, managing audit cycles and ensuring successful outcomes,
Oversee operational risk events and self-identified issues in collaboration with risk teams,
Support stakeholders on control impacts related to system changes or new projects,
Manage monthly balance sheet reconciliations and develop new GL Attestation processes
CPA or equivalent professional accounting designation,
Strong knowledge of IFRS accounting standards and internal controls over financial reporting,
Insurance-specific experience, including IFRS 17 (highly desirable),
Experience with RBC financial systems (EPM) and associated procedures (preferred),
People management experience
