Bell Canada is seeking an experienced Director to lead its national Data Centre Engineering team. This role involves driving the mechanical and electrical design strategy for Bell's AI Fabric program, a national initiative focused on building a secure, high-performance compute fabric for AI innovation across Canada. The Director will provide executive consultation, guide multidisciplinary engineering teams, influence data center strategy, and engage customers to advance complex solution designs, ensuring Bell's AI-ready data centers maintain industry-leading reliability, efficiency, scalability, and innovation.
Provide strategic leadership to Mechanical and Electrical Engineering teams for data center design, planning, standards, and operational readiness.,Drive engineering vision for high-density AI and GPU-optimized data centers aligned with Bell’s AI Fabric program and infrastructure roadmap.,Act as a senior consultative engineering advisor during customer engagements, providing technical expertise and solution positioning.,Build customer relationships by articulating technical capabilities and shaping data center solutions.,Oversee development and refinement of engineering standards, playbooks, and design guidelines for mechanical, electrical, cooling, and power systems.,Collaborate with Operations, Construction, Architecture, Network Engineering, and external partners.,Lead risk assessments, capacity planning, and long-term growth strategies for AI and high-density compute workloads.,Champion innovation in cooling technologies, power distribution, energy efficiency, sustainability, and resiliency.,Provide executive oversight for commissioning, technical evaluations, escalations, and critical incident response.,Develop and mentor high-performing engineering teams.,Represent the engineering organization in executive reviews, customer briefings, and strategic planning sessions.
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.,P.Eng designation strongly preferred.,12–15+ years of experience in mission-critical data center engineering.,At least 5+ years leading multidisciplinary engineering teams.,Demonstrated expertise in high-density compute environments, advanced cooling strategies, power distribution, redundancy architectures, and data center capacity planning.,Strong background in customer-facing engagements, including consultative technical discussions, solution design, and presales support.,Deep understanding of codes and standards relevant to data center environments (ASHRAE, CSA, NEC/NFPA, Uptime, TIA942, etc.).,Experience in large hyperscale or AI-focused data center environments (preferred).,Demonstrated leadership in developing new engineering capabilities, standards, or national-scale programs (preferred).,Familiarity with emerging technologies such as liquid cooling, immersion cooling, edge data center deployment, and advanced power management systems (preferred).
