Director – Indigenous Advisory Services

The Director, Indigenous Advisory Services at KPMG Canada leads the Indigenous Advisory Services practice in Ontario & Atlantic Canada, based in Toronto or Ottawa. This role encompasses market leadership, client delivery, people leadership, and expanding the practice's portfolio. The director will support Indigenous communities, organizations, businesses, governments, and industry clients in areas such as infrastructure, economic development, governance, and sustainability. Additionally, the role involves advising on Indigenous consultation, engagement, and partnership within major projects.

What We're Looking For

Serve as the Ontario & Atlantic market lead for Indigenous Advisory Services, responsible for strategy, growth, and delivery excellence.,Lead the development and execution of market plans aligned with KPMG's Infrastructure, Capital Projects, and Sustainability priorities.,Build and maintain senior relationships with Indigenous governments, organizations, and businesses, as well as public-sector and private-sector executives.,Identify, pursue, and lead complex advisory engagements, including major projects, infrastructure programs, economic development initiatives, and governance transformations.,Act as a trusted advisor to Indigenous clients, supporting infrastructure and capital planning, economic development strategies, governance, organizational design, and Indigenous participation strategies.,Advise industry and government clients on Indigenous consultation and engagement frameworks, participation models, and regulatory considerations.,Lead multidisciplinary teams delivering integrated advisory services.,Advise Indigenous governments, organizations, and businesses on equity participation, joint ventures, and ownership models related to major projects.,Lead proposal development, including shaping value propositions, pricing, and delivery models.,Contribute to revenue growth through origination, cross-selling, and expansion of existing client relationships.,Lead, mentor, and develop high-performing teams across career levels.,Contribute to an inclusive, respectful culture aligned with KPMG's Truth & Reconciliation commitments.,Actively participate in KPMG's National Indigenous Network, Indigenous Advisory Circle, and related firm initiatives.

Ideal Candidate

10+ years of experience (Director) or 8+ years of experience (Senior Manager) in advisory, consulting, government, industry, or Indigenous organizations.,Demonstrated experience working directly with Indigenous communities, governments, organizations, and businesses.,Strong understanding of Indigenous governance structures and rights.,Strong understanding of consultation and engagement processes.,Strong understanding of UNDRIP and related federal and provincial policy frameworks.,Strong understanding of major project development and infrastructure delivery environments.,Proven corporate, commercial, and financial acumen, including experience advising executive-level clients.,Demonstrated experience advising on Indigenous economic development, including Indigenous-owned businesses, development corporations, trusts, and investment vehicles.,Experience with commercial and financial structures that support Indigenous participation in projects (e.g., equity ownership, joint ventures, project finance, procurement-based economic inclusion strategies).,Strong understanding of the intersection between Indigenous rights, economic reconciliation, and commercial project delivery.,Ability to translate Indigenous community objectives into practical, commercially viable solutions for governments, industry partners, and investors.,Professional designation (e.g., CPA, CFA, PMP) considered an asset.

Minimum Education

Undergraduate or graduate degree (or equivalent) in business, economics, finance, engineering, planning, public policy, Indigenous studies/governance, or a related field.
